Today was all in all a great day. I woke up early for some reason so after watching 90210 I decided to go to the Apple store to see if they could help me with my problems I’ve been having with my ipod. Basically it was freezing up and acting slow and I tried to figure out a way to fix it. Some how I fucked it up worse to the point where my computer wouldn’t even recognize it. I looked for my receipt b/c it should still be under warrenty and couldnt find it but went anyways hoping they could just tell me what to do. I got there and they have in house geeks that are there just to deal with problems. I explained my situation and he ran some kind of disk scan on it. Before it was even finished he just took it and gave me another one. Sweet, I never expected that. I think it was a refurbished one, but it looked brand new and mine was all scratched up.
After I went to the bank, I came home and slept for awhile. I woke up but had to wait awhile for the new ipod to finsh loading my 2000 songs before I could head out. It was finished at about 9pm and I headed to the “O”. Well there was three full tables going and I was third on the list. After a brief wait I was directed to a seat. I set my chips down and was talking to someone and noticed a seat at a better table opened up. I asked the floor if I could take that seat instead and he said yes (another reason to take care of the floor occasionally). I sit down and recognize 2 people. The 3 seat is some guy I go to war with frequently. The first time I played with him I went on a raising war with him a couple of times on big draws and I dont think he realizes that I actually had the better hand with all my draws. I never got there the first few times so basically he thinks I will reraise him with nothing. Since then he has given me plenty of action. Like 4 betting me with top pair 2 kicker type of action. The 8 seat is a lady whose husband I am friendly with who was on the Pokerbustouts.com video (when I first met him, he was down 1 million dollars for the year in June). She plays pretty tight though and if she raises you , your beat.
The table is playing a little tight to start out with. I start flinging chips. I was taking control of the table early basically raising any hand that was playable at a six max table. First hand I played I raised 78 and got 1 caller from the big blind. The flop was 892. He bet I raised. The turn was a 10 and he check called me. The river was a 6 making the board 268910. He check called me and showed pocket sixes. Holy shit, how did I not get 2 more bg bets on that!!! After the first few hands I played I was up $100. The table stop letting me have control not too long after and I started dip down after losing QQ and having to gove up on a few hands. The tight lady in the 8 seat let Mike (bustout guy), her husband play her chips for awhile and I happened to be on the button the first had while he was on the BB. I held out 6 chips telling him Im gonna take his blind if it folded to me half joking around. Well it didnt fold to me that hand but the next hand it did and I had AJ and raised. He 3 bet out of the SB and bet the flop blind. The flop was 10 high and I called. Then he bet the turn blind and I had to conceed. He claimed he had AA and was probably telling the truth. Either way I doubt I was good there.
Anyways before you know it Im down 400 for the session but I still felt I had a decent hold on the table. The were calling me more but still checking to me allowing me to get free cards if I wanted them. Anyways, I get QJs and raised and got called by a semi old lady out of the blind. The flop was AKX, and she checked called me. I could tell she liked her hand as was content to check the turn and river given the oppurtunity. Well the turn brought my 1o and she checked raised me. Woohoo my read was right, I 3 bet and she called. The river was a J and she check called me and I dragged the pot. I keep up the aggressive play and get back to even.
The next dealer change brought my friend Jill to the table. I credit her for the consistant success Ive been having for the past year. See last year about this time she introduced me to rake back. I was playing 4-8 and she finished her down and approached me about rakeback. She asked if I played online and if I was a member at Empire. She said she thought I was a pretty solid player and basically got me to make my first big deposit and forced me to keep enough money on the site to multitable. See before that I only put enough on at a time to play about 2 sessions on 1 table if I lost. If I won, I cashed out the profit. This forced me not to play bad and shoot off my last $100 if I was losing b/c I was never down to my last $100. It unintentionally taught me control and Ive done well pretty much ever since. She has since lost a lot of her income b/c of the Party seperation and a bad streak in the 15 game and is now dealing a lot more.
Also in the meantime the 2 seat is occupied by a lady I see everyday. Doesn’t matter where Im at. Im I decide to play at the Orleans, she’s there. If Im at the Bellagio, she’s there. She is walking around more than playing but everytime I play with her, she loses. Anyways Jill sits down to deal and within the first couple of hands I get QQ again. I raise and and a cold call from the 1 seat and two calls out of the blinds occupied by always loses lady and man that gives me no respect. I tell Jill, “there all shooting for me today”. The flop is Q47 two clubs. I bet, the button raises and both of the blinds cold call two. I reraise and we see the turn 4 handed for three bets a piece. The turn is an offsuit J and I bet out again, this time the button raises, lady folds, man that gives me no respect calls 60 cold. I three bet, button four bets, Jill gives me a look of concern, I give her a little wink letting her know not to worry about me, and man that gives me no respect calls 60 cold again. I five bet and they both call. BTW the five bet put the button all in for only 15 of the 30. I figured the button for pocket Jacks and the man that gives me no respect for two clubs. River comes a 6 and man that gives me no respect bets out. I think no possible way he hit a gutshot there. I raised planning to fold to a 3 bet (just kidding). He called saying. “what do you have pocket Queens?”. I say of course and show. Turns out the button had JJ like I thought and man that gives me no respect had 44 for the low set. The pot was big to say the least. He later explained he thought the button might of had a set but didnt think I did so he wanted to make $30 on the side pot. What a moron. I’m pretty sure Jill didn’t even make a side pot. She knew where it was heading. The lady that always loses that ended up folding for 2 cold did have 58 and would have made her gutshot on the river. She was actually mad at herself for folding contending she only had like 150 left and she should have tried to win a big pot. She was honest to god disappointed in herself. I stay real calm when bad beaten, but honestly, I don’t know how I would have handled that had she stayed.
Anyways I played a few more rounds basically just folding and gving away about $50 in blinds and bounced out at midnight.
