Well today I had to get some random shit done, so I forgoed my mornng session. I got my trucked washed after my off road excursion and got my hair cut, and of course napped. After all that I logged on to Stars, to go ahead and try to make some money.

Well, I started off a little laggish, which I seem to do every once in awhile. I really don’t think that its the worst thing ever though. The way I look at it, after a few hands people start pretty much just calling me down. They don’t really have a solid strategy to go up against it. And the way I figure, when I have the best hand I win 5-6 bets and when I lose, I lose 4-5 bets. So, I should be up a bet on every hand I get HU or so. Now keep in mind Im not just raising to raise, I usually have decent hands, just not random hands. But when Im laggish Im not folding marginal hands just because Im in early position, and Im sure as shit not limping with them.

Another thing people seem to miscontrue about the way the hands play out, is why I call someone a luck muppet when they resuck out on me. Here is an example. Say they raise and I call out of the blind with J4s (ya, I know). The flop comes J4Q. I bet, they raise, I reraise, they reraise, I call. Turn is a brick putting 3 of a suit on the board. I check, they bet, I raise, they call. The river will put a four flush on the board and I check call 2 pair and lose to KK (K high flush). I call them a luck muppet, they say they had the best hand prelop. Well thats true, but when did the money go in? If we are playing online 5/10, 20 went in prelop, when they were ahead, and 20 went in on the river when they were ahead, for a total of $40. When I was ahead on the flop and turn $80 dollars went into the pot, therefore they are a luckmuppet in my book.

Well thats the theory anyways. Too bad it doesn’t always work out as planned. I wasn’t making many hands and my laggish play probably wasn’t best suited for the matchups I was up against at the time. I tightened up as usual to try to take advantage of my earlier image. Well suddenly they just happened to either fold when they were behind or suck out (with decent hands, not saying they played bad b/c they didn’t). They also just happened to call down with weak holdings when I was missing with AQ and Ak. Basically a combination for disaster. The worst part about them sucking out, is that it always seemed to happen on the river after I alreadly trapped them for multiple bets on earlier streets. The other bad thing is that they always seemed to figure out last second that they were behind on the turn and were keen enough to know that they got there on the river and that they should bet out b/c I wouldn’t fall for a check raise. You know the normal AA vs. AQ on a Q high flop and then a Q spiking the river type of stuff. Or my favorite, the flush draw that back doors a gutterball straight on the end when I have top pair.

Anyways I really felt that I could make a comeback but unfortunetly I didn’t have time. My friend called me and I said I would go to a bar for Monday Night Football and on the West Coast that shit starts way too early. So i took my loss and went and ate and had a few Newcastles and accepted my loss. I don’t really like to start the week with a loss, and haven’t had to in awhile, but I guess it was meant to be. I will have to make my comeback tomarrow and most likely (hopefully) start the week on Wed.
