Battleship Poker on PokerStars
One of the most prestigious events in poker history is set to start any minute now, the PWCBP. Yes the PokerStars World Championship of Battleship Poker.
64 players will each put up $1000 to play a heads up internet poker match. The structure is single elimination like the NBC heads up tournament that aired a few months ago.
It’s not just any online poker match though. It’s a LIVE online poker match. The players will play poker on their laptop on pokerstars directly across from each other. The actual game has nothing to do with battleship, but the way the laptops will be set up, will resemble the old school battleship game.
Okay I lied when I said it was a prestigious event. It’s most likely going to be a bunch of new school under 21 poker geeks playing internet poker, except doing it while being able to look their virtual opponent in the eyes. But still it’s a cool idea nd it sounds like a lot of fun.
The event is being held at the World Poker Tour PokerStars Caribbean event but you can also view it online at PokerStars. Over 560 people qualified for this tournament from smaller satellites on PokerStars so It’s not that surprising a crazy poker event like this is actually happening.
When I think about this tournament I imagine 64 online poker players sitting across from eachother barely saying a word, but trash talking each other in the chat box. And what if the final two players try to negotiate a chop? Will they have to email support to have Lee Jones walk over with his laptop to explain the details of the chop via PokerStars chat box?

Today’s the second round of this goofy Battleship Poker tournament. I opened up Joe Hatchems first round table and was watching him deal with an anoying rail bird.
I thought it was hilarious that this railer was so star studded by seeing this guy play internet poker. And I was surprized that Hatchem actaully took the time to reply to all his crazy questions. The other *stars* mostly ignored the rail with the exception of some ‘ty’ comments.
I just took some hand results and side conversations out.

Notice how wiseguy slowly gets more and more aggressive and then just explodes towards the end. Was this guy actually serious?

Thanks, the tourney was alot of fun and pot limit omaha 8 was a great choice! I’m looking forward to the next DADI tournament.
