Lunch Fun

By CheckRaise, 13. Dec 05.

Over my lunch hour I was bored and decided to low roll some hands on DONKDOWN as I haven’t been feeling well lately and staying up playing on UB and then putting some time into DONKDOWN has been running its toll on me.

Here are a couple of interesting short handed simple 3-6$ limit hands. I hope a couple of them will generate discussion. Play at this level is just awful. I played a few hands with a highly aggressive player named bigwaite. He bought in for the table minimum and quickly heebed it up to 110+$ in no time. I target players like this, they are easy to maximize value from and you can take large swings by playing them but its all about adjustment here is an example of an intresting hand.

What does bigwaite have??

Add up the clues and let me know?

Another bigwaite hand this one my play is more interesting, this falls along the lines of what Thomas Keller is talking about in cardplayer.com Its great to play your hand or to make a big hand and to be able to get paid, but how can we maximize our earnings?? We need to think about the type of hand that our opponent has its great to call a raise PF with 22 and hit your set but if the board comes 2-5-7 you need to figure out how that board could have hit your opponent, so many times I see the chance to slow play an aggressive player just go nowhere because Johnny set decided to 3 bet his 22 set on a weak board. In the small betting round what a waste. Here is a prime example of a hand where I could determine the type of holdings my opposition has and maximize value on a non-threatening board. My table image has been aggressive to this point, I have been opening many pots but not facing and re-raises so I will continue to run the table over if I am unopposed so yes I raise J10o UTG

Again what does bigwaite have?

Another hand where I messed up with my read and lost at least 1 more bet. Why did I miss the bet? Look at his play and you tell me why I missed the bet and tell me what he has. I was right in my ‘’Huntch’’ about his hand but I played it wrong.

  1. Good idea for a post!

Limit poker is the one game I can’t get a feel for, but i’ll take a shot at this anyway.

hand example #1: bigwaite was the big blind, and nobody on stars can fold that to a raise, so he could have anything. Calling the flop and then betting the turn when the Ace come definately makes you think he has Ax. But maybe he was thinking you had Ax for raising preflop and he’s raising hoping you would reraise? That’s what I’m going with. I think his cards are 78o

    hand example #2
    I have no idea :(

    hand example #3:
I would probably call this one also thinking either I’m tied or beat after the river raise. But maybe he flopped a set with pocket Nines and couldnt get his finger of the raise button.

These are probably way off. I look forward to seeing the results.

  2. DBI I will leave you some hints

    Example #1

Your right to think that no goober will fold his BB in SH limit thats a great start. Saying that he thinks that I have A something and was looking to raise re-raise is also a good idea but not at this limit. in this hand he shows a higher plane of thinking then I expected from him but you are over crediting him.

Example 2 is more obvious than the rest, why would i bet the flop? for information i am looking to see what he has I know my cards his call is telling me what? why do i check the turn after betting the flop what knowledge did i gain?

    Example #3
Add up the clues your annalasis on this hand is near perfect you have the same logic i did during the hand therefore causing me to lose value. Why did I stall why did i brain fart.

  3. Hand 1.) Ace-rag or heart draw w/ bluff attempt on river

Hand 2.)10X suited or big King and tried to trap.

Hand 3.) KQ — I would have 3 bet that river.

  4. Hand 3.) I have to believe that if he had QQ or JJ he would have 3 bet preflop. I just don’t see A10 as a possibility. Raise.

  5. yeah raise hand 3

i hope to god he had a 10 on hand two, but i dont understand y u do not bet turn there, what about all the times he has J9 or some other gut shot and low PP i think u miss out on too much value checking turn thinking he has a.. well i dont know what u thought he had, interested to here where u r coming from here

hand 1 he has a weak ace no doubt, i think he check raises a 7 and does not bet out if he is your complete 3-6 donk

  6. Kidnotor

Your right hand 3 was a brain fart but the player had shown the ability to not raise PF any type of mid A
so i farted and called I am not perfect

Hand 2 as I stated I was 100% sure of his hand Kidonator hence my check on the turn to induce bigger action on the river. This player has shown the ability to go 4 bets on marginal hands

Hand 1 is truly a great hand your not rright in your assesment although he wwould likely checkraise the 7’s but dduring the hand i used previous information to let me know what type of hand he had and to know that i could put max bets in here
