I CAN DODGE BULLETS

By CheckRaise, 17. Nov 05.

Wow, Last night was incredible a bad run of cards is plenty normal but last night it seemed like someone was out to get me. I was up 25BB early in the night and decided to grab some food. I live in a house with 4 guys so finding food is always an adventure. By the time I ate I was tired but in need of some more poker action. I grabbed one of my roommate’s laptops and decided to play some poker on DonkDown.

In the span of 45 minutes I had some great hands, but most seemed to run into something bigger. AK flop the K, run into a set, 2xKK both times flop had Ace. Set runs into overset.

I still managed to book a huge 3$ win on the session and around 200FPP. I always thought that the FPP’s took long to accumulate but in a little over 3 weeks they are over 1050.

I talked to Thaaj again last night, for someone who had an epiphany on poker and is attempting to try and quit, he feels the same way as me that online is soley business, that live is fun.The guy is itching for some live action, going to have to hook that up next week. It will be interesting to see how this guy plays, 19 years old up over 55K this year. Not that bad.

I will try and get into contact with my other buddy from Montreal who plays in the stars 30-60 and was up in the 100-200 until he took a beating and had to drop down. He is a great NL player, he cashed in the WSOP (274) and played 1 or 2 WPT events this year too would be good to see him and make it like old times again.

I tried out my new account that was set up for me on a new Prima skin that I am involved with. I don’t have much to say since I played 5 hands before I sent it to Netteller to ship to a friend who needs the cash after some bad luck.

I just don’t really understand some peoples logic online. Everyday I see the same players make the same mistakes over and over again to the point where I can not understand how they win.

1-Don’t sit with the table minimum. You certainly don’t have to full roll it but do not sit at 2-4 with 20$ alone. I seek these players out and try to play as many as possible. Someone sitting with 20$ isn’t likely to outplay you, the play ABC and when they get stuck for 5-10$ they donate the rest on any hand almost. Its easy money.

2-So many players miss simple bets that over time your losing out on some serious value.
I cant tell you how many times I watch player bet the whole way and have someone check call till the river. Scenario

Player A on the button
Player B BB
Player A Bets and Player B check calls. Flop 2 of a suit A bets B calls Turn Blank A bets B calls River makes a flush possible. B checks and A checks after him.

A Shows top pair or mid pair B mucks

Why check your telling me that Player B made his hand and is looking to check raise the river. The amount of players capable of making a play like that is not very many at all. B obviously has a hand hence his calling down. Its very rare that a player who has a strong hand will not lead at the river. In the 2K+ hands I have played in the last week I have ran into this and I counted. Drum roll please 20 times I have been check raised on the river and 5 times I called with the best hand. You are losing a ton of bets by fearing the check raise. Also if they fold then you win a nice pot without showing down a hand.

End Transmition
